Does such a device exist?

I am thinking of taking my online business on the road. I already have a fairly compact laptop, but I am worried if I took it traveling it could get stolen.

What I need is something almost handheld, but still has a keyboard, which I could use to write. Text files are fine, as I would do all of my writing while travelling and upload the content when I got to an internet cafe.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I used to use my Zaurus fairly extensively. It has an excellent, logical keyboard that, although is pint-sized, allowed me to type fairly long text docs without wanting to murder someone from my using a tap-screen keyboard or handwriting recognition (though you can use those if you prefer). They sadly don't sell them in the USA/Canada anymore, but are available on eBay from Asia.

Oh, it's a linux PDA, so it has quirks and so on that you may not want to deal with, and support for it is dwindling, so if you're not a DIY-er, then you may want to stay clear.

Several PDAs have external keyboards that you can connect to them. Some of the keyboards fold up to a size about the same as the PDA. I don't know if there are any flexible keyboards made for PDAs, but it seems like a logical market.
