Just a heads up for anybody purchasing a new laptop. If you think you are going to be able to use any of your old PC Cards, think again. There are some options (USB to PC Card adapters) for older cards, but the adapters won't work with every old card, only certain cards will adapt.

PCMCIA has developed the ExpressCard™ standard to carry forward the benefits of 'plug-in' I/O cards to the next generation of personal computing devices.

Where you are really going to notice this is if you have a wireless cellular access PC Card. Many of them are still not available in the Expresscard technology yet, many are projected for delivery in 1st quarter of 2007.

I realize this technology has been out for some time now, but it was the first time I bumped into it today as I was helping a friend so thought I'd share my (lack of) experience ;)
