Advice about websites

Hi,

You know if you've created a website business and domain name on one computer and you decide to buy another one. How do you continue to use that same website business from another computer? Also, won't the email address change? Would I have to start an identical website?

Just transfer all your existing login details passwords etc to the new computer

Grab all the site files, and login info for your hosting and login info for where the domain is registered. If you don't plan to use that other computer, take out the hard drive and throw it into the new computer as a slave drive. That would make it easier for you. No you don't need to change email address, you can goto the new computer and into outlook and make the same account.

Also, depending on your version of mail program (outlook etc.) You can export all your contacts and old emails and burn them to disk, and then import them into the new mail program so you get to keep all your old messages and contacts. I know how important this is to some people.. lol

Windows XP will tranfer some settings for you as follows:

Start>Accessories>System Tools>Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

Its best to use a Memory Pen for this, as the settings can amount to 8MB.

Choose the "Settings Only" option - if you select Files it will try to backup the entire C disk.
