Hello everyone,

I’m looking for general advice from experienced members regarding the best way to sell a website.

I currently own a content-based media website that has grown primarily through organic Google search and receives a substantial amount of monthly traffic. Monetization has been kept very simple, and the site runs with minimal maintenance. Due to other commitments, I’m considering exiting the project rather than investing more time into optimizing or expanding it.

I’m not looking to sell anything here and won’t be sharing links or details publicly. I’m mainly interested in learning from others’ experiences:

What are the most reputable marketplaces or brokers for selling high-traffic content sites?

Are brokers generally worth the commission for sites like this, or is a direct sale usually better?

Any common mistakes to avoid when preparing a site for sale?

What do buyers typically focus on most when evaluating traffic-heavy websites?

I’d appreciate any insights or lessons learned from those who’ve been through the process.

Thanks in advance.

@Md Ekram Parvez... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Biggest problem is letting it be known the site is up for sale. A broker can be a help, but do your research first---some are better than others! Buyers are looking at the site AND the history. Have good stats/metrics to share during negotiations. One other avenue is to contact a niche member who MIGHT be interested in what you have an try that as the off ramp.

Just make sure that contracts, lawyers and escrow are involved to avoid any problems down the line!

Good luck!
