DKIM settings

I haven't had to deal with this in a long time, but now I've moved over to Cloudflare it looks like I'm setting everything up again from scratch :-/

So I'm setting up the DKIM, which I'm generating here:

My result is the selector and a record value, which I would put in the DNS record as:

TXT selector v=DKIM1;blahblahblah

But it also gives me a "Private key", which it says that I "must enter this key in your DKIM signer".

What the heck is a DKIM signer? And where, exactly, am I supposed to put this key?

There are some helpful explanations in various threads around here, this one from 2022: [webmasterworld.com...] might help.

I wouldn't go back too far because of updated specs the past few years.

I didn't find anything about a DKIM signer on there :-( I googled before posting and couldn't really find anything, either. The best I could find was this vague explanation:

Setting up a DKIM signer on a mail server is another integral part of the process, which is a difficult task for many email systems. The only exception is Google’s G Suite, which provides a clear how-to tutorial for setting up a DKIM signer. For Microsoft Office 365, users can take advantage of Microsoft’s comprehensive guide on how to implement DKIM signing on that platform.

I set up the TXT record and verified that it's responding, but when I email a Gmail address it always go to the spam folder. And when I click on "show original", I don't see anything in the headers about DKIM. So there must be a second step for the private key, I just can't find it :-/

It was just an article link for the Wikipedia explanation of the keys, with examples and how they are used. Not a magic tool, no.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I get the general concept, I'm just not seeing how to install the private key.

Best I can find is that I need to install and configure OpenDKIM. Sheesh, I've been doing server work for weeks now, and I swear it feels like I'm worse off than I was before I started :-/
