So I had a website for years and years (too many years to count!) and it kind of got bloated and I ended up getting tired of it. So I went back to the world of regular employment. Then I came to realise how lucky I was and decided to go back to my website again.
The website no longer existed on the web because I’d turned it all off, so I took the opportunity to re-do the entire thing from scratch. New design, mobile friendly, super speedy, up-to-date HTML5 code, and I cut out all the rubbish pages as well (250,000 pages-worth, of database-driven pages).
My old domain had also attracted a load of spammy links over the years, so I decided to go with a brand new domain name and not bother to redirect the old one. So I’m literally starting from scratch.
So I’m wondering how long it will take to get some traffic from google? I’ve read 3 to 6 months, or even a year, is normal, and I’m comfortable waiting that long. The only backlinks I’m getting are 100% white hat — I’m putting original videos up on my brand new YouTube channel, posting original photos on my brand new Pinterest page, and writing about my subject on my site’s brand new twitter page.
Has anyone got any experience of relaunching a site with a brand new domain name?
