Hi all, I recently made a new website for a client and pointed it to a new domain and had the old domain redirect to it. BUT...any old domain URL with an https in it renders a page with an error message on it saying...
This site can’t provide a secure connection www.example.net sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Specifically on this page: https://www.example.net/about.html :(
If one does a search on Google for "My Company Name, LLC" (without the quotes...) and click the third link down or any link with the https prefix, you'll see my drama...other links redirect properly - that don't have the https.

Please help my client is [snip] :(

your request is failing while trying to make a secure connection.
this step must successfully occur before the request reaches the server.
www.example.net must be configured as a secure host or you won't be able to redirect secure requests (i.e., urls specifying https: protocol) to hostnames on the new domain.

Did you get a security certificate for the new domain but not for the old one? You’ll need to get one for the old domain too. If this domain now exists only for redirection, you should do fine with a free certificate.
