hey everyone,

First post here at WMF - hope its in the right place!

As the Subject describes, I am having an issue in that theBing Webmaster Page Traffic report has no key words listed under the View Search Keywords section for any pages. I am seeing plenty of clicks from search in the last 7 day period (300+ for home page) for the top 10-20 pages but no underlying info on search terms.

thanks!

JW

Hello RIOtraining and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Were you seeing keywords there before?

IMO while listing keywords users choose to find your page is valuable for many reasons, this metric just seems a way for Bing to sell ads (there is a "buy the keyword" link next to each.)

Possibly the tool is having problems populating that metric. Give it a few days and the data should return.

I usually drill into the Bing data via my keyword first, under Search Keywords. If I drill down on the 'View Served Pages' for a particular keyword, I am presented with the 'No data available' popup. It's been like that for a while - I'm sure I can remember in the past seeing the pages that were served for a specific keyword (but I could be wrong)

As RIOtraining, if I drill into the data via 'Page Traffic' and 'View Search Keywords', I get the 'No data available' message.

I'm not sure what the problem is, not enough data for our sites to show relevant data (but that sorta doesn't make sense) or whether it's just a 'bug' in the tools?

IMO, Bing webmaster is very shonkey, ever tried filtering your data by date? Try a single day, unless it's a Saturday, you won't see any data. Saturday shows data for a whole week! (YMMV)

I take what I'm given from the data, if anything's missing then "c'est la vie"

As an aside, I don't see any "buy the keyword" links in these pages.

Ahh... so under age Traffic > View Search keywords Yes, I do get "No data available"

The "Would you like to buy this Keyword?" is being displayed from Dashboard > Search Keywords and next to each keyword is a black icon with an "$" that displays the Bing Ad prices when clicked.

Wow, nothing on my 'Search Keywords' page, no icon, no text - Bing obviously thinks I don't have any money or am not willing to spend it! ;-)

The two BWT accounts I see the "Would you like to buy this Keyword?" both get about 100k daily page loads. Maybe there's a traffic requirement.

Ah, yes, that'll be it :-)

Whilst I used to rank highly, it was for relatively low traffic keywords.

Interestingly though, Microsoft pages generally ranked highly for the same keywords, may be they didn't want the extra competition? Dunno, can't quite work that through in my head, need a coffee.

Anyway, we're digressing, yeah, 'Data missing in Bing Webmaster' unfortunately it's a 'feature' :-)

Hey thanks for the replies everyone. Appreciate your thoughts here. As a recent first time user of the Bing Webmaster tools I agree that it is way less developed that Google's console. I have also found it to be buggy - biggest complaint is missing information.

I have tried finding key words from a couple of different start points but all reports show "No Data Available". Same for "pages were served for the selected keyword" - nothing shown. I was not ever seeing the key words BTW.

You should be able to see your keywords using Report & Data -> Search Keywords. You seeing nothing there as well?

It's a shame about Bing Webmaster being so buggy, if they want to compete in this field with Google then they need to step up their game somewhat. They do so well in other areas I find it strange that the same quality levels in those areas aren't applied to this too.

Sorry, I really meant Microsoft. They seem good in other areas, but Bing seems a bit wobbly.
