Those of you that already dislike this insecure plugin should be pleased to note this is being deprecated with the next release of Java SE, which will be in March 2017.

Oracle plans to deprecate the Java browser plugin in JDK 9. This technology will be removed from the Oracle JDK and JRE in a future Java SE release. Oracle Deprecates Java Browser Plugin [blogs.oracle.com]

Will any browsers support Java browser plugins by 2017? Probably just IE...

Anyone know about this Java Web Start? How does it compare to the Java web browser plugin? I read a bit and it sounds quite similar.
