I'm working on getting an Extended Validation SSL certificate. I just spoke with GeoTrust and they tell me that my parent company's name would have to be included in the validated entity declaration something like this:

WebsiteName.com (Parent Company Name)

Has anyone seen an example of this online? I'd like to see what it looks like in the address bar.

That would not be seen as part of your URL, it is stored in the certificate and transmitted invisibly to the browser.

Chrome displays the organization name in the browser. See for example ing.nl a dutch bank.

Sure, but some (most?) browsers present it in the address bar for Extended Validation.

[ing.nl...] doesn't use Extended Validation does it?

I thought EV meant that most browsers would put your entire company name inside the address bar in a special green box for https requests. It looks like Firefox does that for ing.nl but Chromium does not. Shouldn't Chromium do this too?

Thanks bhukkel.

I was thinking it over and I think I'm better off without EV. In the address bar, I'd rather have:

www.websitename.com

than:

WebsiteName.com (Parent Company Name) www.websitename.com

That would just be confusing and counterproductive.
