Sites not responding due to long running scripts

Increase in seeing this error

I'm using IEll on Windows 7 and lately I've been having the "site not responding due to long running scripts" error show up more frequently. Sometimes, it crashes the computer. This is happening repeatedly on very well known/highly visited sites.

Is this something I need to fix on my computer, a browser issue or just poor coding?

:: buying time ::

Can we take it as read that it makes no difference if you empty the browser cache, use a different browser, or ... uhm, I forget what the third thing is ;)

Check your security settings in IE11. Some things changed with the last update. Things I happen to LIKE, but make some sites dysfunctional. Also, beware that changing your Internet security levels in IE11 (or other browsers) can have dire implications. Personally, if I run into a site that has difficulty due to my security and JS settings, I just go elsewhere. Too many other sites with the same stuff are out there.

For the purposes of testing, have you accessed these sites with a different browser? ... there are quite a few to try.

Are you referring to bad coding by a site owner or the browsers' coders?

@tangor Thanks, the sites in question are facebook and twitter...not really other places out there that I can read the same things as they are personal communications. Lots of browsers out there to use, just trying to figure out why the "site not responding" errors have increased substantially over the last few weeks.

Haha, no, I think the third standard piece of advice is to restart the computer. In other words, all those "Is the device plugged in?" questions that you get from technical support and you want to kick their smug faces ... until the day you realize the device isn't plugged in.
