I recently completed a website that provides online reading billed by time and the client is happy with the charge rates that he nominated after consulting his subscribers. But unfortunately, that site is publishing specialised reports and those charge rates are not an indication of what would be appropriate throughout Australia, England and the USA.
Also, the new site that I am working on will be selling books for download as well as providing online reading for them and the book prices are expected to vary between $10 to $300 and more. So a fixed online reading rate (per second) based on a percentage of the average book price (perhaps $15) is not going to be popular with authors selling their books for $300. So I will probably work with a variable charge rate based on a percentage of the book price cum number of pages.
So my question is:
What would you consider an acceptable online reading price for an eBook valued at $15 keeping in mind that it may vary between 20-200 pages or more. What price per hour?
