Best structure for SEO?

I currently manage a site selling widget services.

At present, my site strcture is something along the lines of:

example.com
example.com/prices
example.com/red-widget
example.com/blue-widget

etc...

Anyway; would it be better for SEO purposes to move all these pages to have a strcture, such as:

example.com/widgets/
example.com/widgets/red
example.com/widgets/blue

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Either should work, partly it depends on scale. You could have an awful lot of files in a directory if you have as many widget colors as Crayola Crayons.

Also, I'd think about which makes more sense to real people reading the url. This is very dependent on what real name your "widgets" have. Then I'd ask several people who know almost nothing about widgets which makes more sense to them reading it. May get odd or unexpected answers.

I used the second method, never had any problems.
