I'm working on a massive new site about restaurants and not sure what to do here.
We've implemented a database into our site that contains info on just about every restaurant in America.
Each of these restaurants now has it's own unique page on our website - There are over 100,000 of them.
For example, if there was a restaurant in San Francisco called "Buddy's Bar and Grill" that served American food - it would have it's own page on our site, and the URL/taxonomy would look like this: mysite.com/california/san-francisco/american-food/buddys-bar-and-grill
And on that page would contain more info and stuff about that particular restaurant.
So here's the thing. I've been tasked with uploading a logo for each restaurant in America. Each restaurant page should have a logo if one can be found online.
Thankfully, a good portion of the restaurant's in the database were nationwide chains, so I only had to find one logo for like Sizzler for example - and could then apply it to all the Sizzler pages sitewide in 1 click.
But now since I've finished all the major chains, and all that's left are restaurants with only 1 or a few locations: is there any easier way to get logo's for these other restaurants, besides searching for them online, 1 by 1? And after finding it, uploading it to their page 1 at a time?
It's extremely tedious, monotonous work, but perhaps the only way it can be done. Right now I just search google for the restaurant name + city... Sometimes the restaurant has a website that comes up and I grab the logo from there, other times it can be found on other websites, or in Google images or streetview, and sometimes no matter how hard I look, I can't find one at all.
Would you approach this any differently than me?
Do you think any script could help or automate this somehow?
I feel like there must be a better way!
P.S. In addition to having each restaurant's name and city, I also have it's address, phone number and food type at my disposal. I'm not sure if this info could be used to better locate logo's more quickly or efficiently or not, but it probably couldn't hurt.
