Submit button: pointer vs. arrow

I heard someone suggest making a form "Submit" button style the cursor as a pointer (the hand with pointing finger) when hovering.

From a marketing standpoint this sounded like it might be a good idea - it's a small thing that may slightly decrease form abandonment rate.

Another person's opinion was that it was bad practice since most websites don't do it and as such may confuse the user.

I would appreciate some input on the subject - yea or nay on {cursor:pointer;} ?

Make the button change when hovering, but do NOT mess with the cursor.

After a few difficult cleanups on computers infected after young users went for "free cursors" it would leave a bad taste at best, and a swift close of the browser possible.

Changing to a pointing finger is actually useful and welcome on a page where there is a mixture of ambiguously clickable and not clickable content, but not in the case of a submit button only.
