Its time to be free, be creative & make sites for your visitors

I think its time we all wake up and confess thats it time to move on, Google is no more. Think about it, how much time do you use to make google happy instead of being creative? and now think how that "working for google time" has increased since 2011, is it worth it or is it time to make websites for your users or customers.

I suggest that every webmaster starts being creative again, make some great websites, make your visitors happy and just create your "free" site without any handcuffs from any search engine. For free traffic focus on Bing, Yahoo, other SEs and social media, it works, I already have 2 sites where I have blocked google from the start and just focused on Yahoo, Bing.... plus social media.

You will really feel much better with your work, be cause you can do what you want, without guidelines from any. Also think about the future do you think that google will still dominate the search market, I doubt it, be cause there will be a lot of other options to find new sites, so why not start to work on your future now.

I would suggest you block google, be cause of bandwidth and text/image scraping.

Think about it is Google worth ALL that time?

Always did..but I don't block Google..Or Bing, or Yandex, bandwidth is cheap / unlimited ..and I'm not worried about what any search engine might find on my sites ..everything on them, text and images, is created by me..I've nothing to hide..:)

Leosghost - I dont mean to hide, but why give the users a websites content, without them visiting your site, thats what I ment.

That is what "no cache" and "no archive" is for..and "anti hotlink" etc..that way the site is in SERPs..just enough to be indexed , and to tempt the visitors..

I only block scrapers..manual, auto and crowd sourced..

I've always focused on content and the user experience, not SEO, and my sites have always ranked well in Google, Bing, Yandex and the others.

why give the users a websites content, without them visiting your site

Because if I give them some of my content via the search engines I stand a better chance of getting them to come visit the site. Isn't that the whole purpose of a search engine?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but from my point of view blocking Google serves no purpose because all it will do is cost me potential visitors and offers no upside at all.

I wouldn't block search engines as it will inconvenience your visitors, not yet anyway. If Google stops sending those visitors in favor of their own knowledge however then I'll seriously reconsider. I still can't wrap my head around how they can assimilate all of the worlds knowledge from others and slap the Google name on it, and get away with it, so for now we can just wait and see, and hope for the best. Google is facing anti-trust suits in many countries now so it may be some time before we can clearly see what they are doing, it's possible they don't even know for sure at this point.

I expected some of those comments, you have to see the situation from a webmaster (not me) that has lost hmm about 90% of there visits from google,so what would the point be to share all that content with them and the bitterness of cause over the situation. We also see that google takes a weird way the last years, so is it time to focus more on other SEs. Thats the point.
