What time should you send mailers

With more and more people using smart phones for email it may be a good time to think about the time of day you send out your mailings.

The reason I bring this up is because email is changing. It used to be a case of booting up the pc to check your mail. Now for a lot of users its "beep beep" not so good if it happens to be 3am.

How are you dealing with this? Set times or staggered due to time zone differences. I think this is something that should be addressed before it becomes an issue.

If you have an international clientèle, you also have the issue that they will be in different time zones, so even if you try end send during your daylight hours it could still end up being 3am for them unless you know what time zone they are in and can schedule sending e-mails based on that information.

why not send at the same time of day as they subscribed to your newslette?

That is a fairly neat solution. I was thinking about sorting users by time zone and mailing them at mid day (their time).

You could always allow them to edit their profile and nominate the time they want to receive e-mails.
