What's better. a list of links, or dropdown box?

I've got an events section on my site, and i allow people to search by date. each of the dates has its own page, so of course i want all of those pages to appear in the SERPs.

but what's the best way to do it?

i used to have a little 3 month calendar-type thing on the sidebar, and i linked each date to its own page. so there were about 90 individual links on each page (not including all the normal navigation links)

but i want to get rid of that and change it to a dropdown box instead, which takes up less space. but im worried that the pages will suffer in the SERPs because they are no longer being linked to from each page. the number of internal links pointing to each of my date pages is going to plummet overnight.

is that something that you'd worry about? or does google count links in a dropdown box the same way that they count text links?

when you say "text links" do you mean unlinked url citations?
