Hi

Very occasionally I need to do a flow chart ("flow diagram"?) to show the possible paths through a website.

And I need something quite powerful because these can get fairly complex...

Background:
I am a small sole-trader and I cant afford Microsoft Visio 2012(can you *believe* they want $559.95 for just the Professional [i.e. not the Premium] version?!

I also own Mindjet's MindManager 2012, but it needs everyting to be in a *heirachy* !

- Any other (dirt cheap) suggestions? (Max budget: $50-100 ?)

With thanks

J

There is an old Supporters thread from 2010 that discusses Visio alternatives [webmasterworld.com] which included Dia, Kivio and Gliffy.

I've used the Pencil add-on for Firefox and liked it.
[evolus.vn...]

You can also search for "open source wireframe software" and locate quite a few articles that mention many more alternatives.

There is a free flowcharting tool called DRAKON Editor.
It allows you to draw flowcharts in DRAKON language.
[drakon-editor.sourceforge.net ]

DRAKON is a flavor of flowcharts that focuses on readability.
It has been used in the space program.
Here is a doc on the language: DRAKON.pdf [sourceforge.net]
