Hi keywestlights and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

First I should mention that links to personal sites is a no no. Formalities out of the way...

I did look at your page. For starters, your meta description is way, way too long and more about your philosophy than your product(s). It should be more along the lines of "Affordable quality widgets, A type widgets, b type widgets, etc...."

I also looked at a product page, the first product. Again, your description tags are way too long.

And I do not know if it's me, but you pages load really slow to such a degree I would get impatient. You have a lot of scripts from external sources which makes for a lot of http requests. There are 7 style sheets and 19 scripts that I counted. Also, seems you have redundant canonical links.

Second, and this is without knowing, have you submitted your site to search engines via sitemap.xml files? Also, do you have any restrictions in your robots.txt file which would prevent your site being indexed? What's Google analytics telling you about landing pages, time on site, bounce rate? Have you created product feeds for Google and Bing shopping?

All these are variables which, except for the description tag, I can only speculate about.

Please do not think I am being overly critical, but these are some of the things I noticed. Others may be able to give you more/better observations.

hey Marshall
Yeah i know i use magento and unless you have crazy hosting IE VPS or VDS which every you want to call it it loads pretty slow. I know this is a factor and i really like magentos features and ecom solution and want to stick it out till i can either upgrade hosting or buy an optimizer extension.

I have product feeds for google yes and have a cronjob that updates it daily with my products from site.

i have submitted my sitemaps and analytic
454 Visits
325 Unique Visitors
1,654 Pageviews
3.64 Pages/Visit
00:03:45 Avg. Time on Site
44.71% Bounce Rate
70.04% % New Visits

And for meta description your saying just stick to direct to point IE inexpensive quality (Product name)
along that line?

"Also, seems you have redundant canonical links."

Meaning please forgive me as i am new to this!

Thank you

John,

Yes, your meta description on the home page is more like the content from an "About Us" page. As Sgt. Friday in the old TV show Dragnet use to say, "Just the facts."

And a canonical meta tag tells a search engine, basically, this page is fine, but this is actually the one I want you to index. Your canonical link meta tag is the url as the page, and on your product pages, it is there twice. I know there has been discussion on WebmasterWorld about having a canonical link pointing to the page itself, but I do not recall the outcome. You can read more on it at Google [googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com]

As for the speed issue, I really do think it needs addressed. I would also suspect that the "time on site" is skewed by the slow download times. If you can, try to delete unnecessary scripts. Honestly, I cannot understand why most of them are there other than to provide your options, options which I suspect you are not using.

Ok the leader board advertising your products it goes way to fast and I cant stop it by passing my mouse pointer over it.

Customer service - tiny link ! I found that by placing my phone number for customers to call me, sales went up. The number s were listed at the top of ALL pages. Uk customers call #*$! USA callers call #*$! you can rent lines that link back to you on one phone number. I dont want to email and hope for an answer, I want to speak to you now !

Photos are clear, fine there.

LED par lamps - err no products, this makes your site look very unprofessional.

Gallery - Retitle it, 'How our customers use our products' or something like that etc maybe having it on the front page scrolling by we used this product to do this. Image - Product - image - product. If you see what im saying.

25 products in full, 2 sales, are at that rate pretty good.

Your sales pages are cluttered with buttons for this and that, cut it back.
