Benefits Over Features - Why do so many people fail to 'get it'?

I had an epiphany this morning. Google, just one example are excellent at preaching features - but what about all the hidden benefits of using them? The most important information that enables people to put meaning to a feature.

I've started to see the world through a new lens now in order to make better decisions to allocate time.

Search for 'advanced search operators' and you get list after list of features with little or no benefits.

Here's an example:

What are the hidden benefits of using intitle searches?
What are the hidden benefits of using inanchor searches?
What are the hidden benefits of using google alerts?

I can think of a lot!

Reminds me of the guy who made a really great tool.

Someone asked: "What is it used for?"

Guy replied: "You figure it out."

Tools have no value unless that value is obvious.

As a side note I was playing around the other day with operators and I noticed there is a significant latency from google when using some of them. For instance allinurl takes several seconds to return results vs other operators.
