How are people adding themselves to my twitter?

I have a twitter account in which I have never followed anyone, ever, and yet after checking a moment ago it says I am now following 11 people ?

A look at who I am following reveals that all 11 have their updates locked so nobody can see their tweets in the timeline, except me.

A look at my Google dashboard shows that I have previously followed 416 people on Twitter with this account, 405 of them now banned.

I have only made one connection with this account, that being to Feedburner to allow direct tweets of my new blog posts. I have changed the password several times without any effect so where is the security leak here?

This has been going on for over a year now and is STILL a problem, any ideas?

Malware?
Dodgy or compromised twitter clients?
Dodgy or compromised authorisations?

i would first go into your account settings/Applications and verify which applications have to access your account.

Google is the only application, feedburner, which was set up to post excerpts of blog postings to the twitter account. The computer is malware free, used only when working on websites and databases.

Since I know I have a security issue, or twitter has a security issue (or both) I've shut down the twitter account. It's not a great traffic generator and I'm not interested in being a web celeb so... I just wish I could find the source of the added accounts.
