Microsoft Skype Crashing and Won't Run

It seems that after the recent acquisition of Skype by Microsoft, [webmasterworld.com] it's now crashing and unusable.

That's a major tech and PR problem, imho, as Skype has always been pretty stable, and now, Microsoft is at the helm, it's crashing.

It seems there is a 'fix' to enable log-in again.

It seems it may manifest itself when restarting skype. It may be fine when you remain logged in. There appears to be a file called shared.xml that needs deleting while skype is shut down. The file is recreated when restarting.

Some wags are blaming the outages on Microsoft's recently announced purchase of the company, but that's simply not true; the deal is still pending regulatory approval, and for the moment, the companies remain separate.

My Skype crashed a couple of hours ago and the program itself won't run.

yep, i've been off skype for about 3 hours now.... finally getting some spotty access.

I'm guessing your skype program will actually run. The whole program crashes and shuts down so i can't tell if service is back up.

yea no issues running the program at all, just kept telling im offline and so is everyone else.

seems to be back in action as of noon eastern.
