If my weekly local rag actually did things right, they couldn't be beat. Make sure every kid gets their pic in the paper at least once while they're in school and keep abreast of local politics. If they did that, there's pretty much nothing online that will touch them for readership in the near future.
Whether that translates into advertising dollars, I don't know. I do know I would pay substantially higher $'s for the subscription.
