Hello, I am new here. I am glad to find such a helpful forum.

I recently started an ecommerce website selling woman's fashion clothing. I spent some money and marketed the site using google/yahoo/facebook and getting quite abit of views at about 1500+ unique IP a month. Not too bad for a brand new site I suppose.

But so far my conversion rate has been .... one. Yep, just a single sale with over 1500 unique viewers. That is a conversion rate of 0.00067%.

Am I expecting too much ? What am I doing wrong ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch !

*Removed my site's URL. Didn't know I was not suppose to do that. :P

Welcome to the forums. What you're up against is the art and science of "conversion optimization". As you're discovering, you can gave all the traffic in the world and it doesn't mean you have a successful business.

Conversion optimization is a specialty all it own. There is a kind of wisdom already built up about certain "rules" - such as when and how to use images on a sales page, what kind of type setting is most readable on the web, guidelines for good marketing copy, etc, etc.

But the good thing about conversions is that you can collect data. Since you already have some traffic, you can do split run testing (also called A/B testing) and compare two version of your page against each other. Which ever one works best, keep that and test it against a third trial. Over time you get a better and better page that converts better.

Thanks for your reply.

I see that I need more work on the conversion optimization since it's pretty horrible right now.

At least I know now where to headed. :)

>>I spent some money and marketed the site using google/yahoo/facebook

do you mean you are buying ads?
if you are then you need to look at the keywords you are bidding on

even if you are not buying ads, do you know what searches users are using to find your site? maybe you have targeted the wrong keywords?
