Just got a postcard in the mail from a settlement administrator. It was sent to all present and former Ameritrade customers. A lawsuit against the company alleges that an unauthorized third party got access to customer physical and email addresses, that were then used by spammers to send spam promoting certain stocks.
An important lesson: fail to safeguard your customers' private info, and you could get sued.
