Migrating large numbers of docs to new host

From folder to CMS

Can anyone advise on URL forwarding or whatever its called for almost two thousand of PDF & Word downloads from a static site to a new CMS.

Currently all contained within category folders within a main docs folder

/documents
/Category ( x 15 categories)
/Category/.. Lots of PDF and Word

Old and new host are both LAMP. New site is a CMS and files will be attached to each product or product-category manually.

How do I keep all the links working when / while I move to the new host. What are the steps?


Other than SEO requirements, is there anything else on the new host that can be done to help ?

is the domain changing on the new host?
are the urls changing in the CMS?

The domain isnt changing, but the urls will need to change to make them SE friendly.
