Do webmasters make a good target audience for an ad-supported website?

Can websites that are targeted at webmasters make good money through an ad-supported model? I am assuming conventional routes like Adsense or banner ads may not work because the audience is highly tuned to be blind to such advertisements.

What have your experiences been like?

nope. they don't click on banners nor adsense ads. ( For example: try doing a webmaster/webdesign/seo, etc related niche directory and try to monetize only with means mentioned in the original post.)

What works well with webmasters as target audience is a recurring subscription product / service that solves a problem for them.

Don't tell people, I use a couple of "free" services that have just that business model. Luckily I don't depend on them

Here is what I feel is one of the most important aspects of monetizing information by AdSense or Affliate work: Content aimed at NEWBIES is profitable because newbs generally lack the basic tools, software, and hardware.

I can't believe I'm giving this insight away in a public forum because it's a gift to my competitors. NEWBS are gold. Take it and run. This is the last time I talk about this.
