Start > Run > Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run
You will need to ascertain which executable to remove and then delete the value for it. This will work for any version of windows above Windows For Workgroups 3.11.
There are a couple of places in the registry that make things run at startup. If you are comfortable working in the registry, you can do a search for Run and RunOnce in the registry and modify those entries to not run.
