Facing DDOS, will it affect search rankings?

Facing a massive DDOS since yesterday, was forced to use services of a DDOS mitigation provider who has placed us behind a proxy and is routing only "clean" traffic to us. Will it affect our search rankings a search engines may take a dim view of being behind a proxy?

It may affect your rankings and traffic.

Remember:

Google checks the site speed, its one of their checklist in deciding what your rankings will be.

For the traffic, naturally if the ranking goes down traffic goes down as well. Also to those who may visit the site during the DDOS attack may find it hard to browse the site.

Speed is fine. Am worried if being behind a proxy will appear "shady" to search engines.

I think your own ISP may be able to assist. Did you try them? It might be more transparent if done locally by your ISP.

Another bit of advice. Do you know where most of the attacks are coming from? My experience is when big ddos attacks come our way it is mostly international traffic (we are a US site).

Hence we block all international traffic during those times we experience an attack. Seems to help.
