Hi, I want to know what a website looked like before it was redesigned or before it went offline. Where can I find a kind of snapshot of the homepage when there is nothing on web.archive.org or whois.do_maintools.com ?

If it's not on archive.org you're probably sunk.

I used to keep zip files with old designs, well every time before I made an update I would zip the site up so as to have something to fall back on should disaster occur. Whoever created the site back then might have some backups.

There aren't that many "archive" sites on the web for web content. Even those might not have it as some site owners have requested removal (as I did, for example). And it is possible that any snapshots of elder sites have been corrupted by inadvertent updates.
It is also possible that none of the archiving sites ever recorded the site you're looking to explore in history. The web is a Very Big Place and though it does not have as many sites as Carl Sagen's Billions and Billions (later updated to Trillions) most of these archive sites do have limitations on storage. Like BDW said, if it is not at archive.org, it's probably not available.

You guys don't seem to know much, fact is that if the site isn't on web.archive.org it's VERY likely to have snapshots on whois.do_maintools.com ! (w/o underscore)

Yeah, it isn't. But you seem to say that web.archive.org is the only place, but it isn't ! And I bet there is a third and a fourth.

I was not aware of any other place. Thank you for correcting me.
