I heard that it's a good idea to make your blog a directory on your site instead of a sub-domain for SEO purposes. I am not sure how this is done. Can someone explain how to do it?
Many thanks,
Eunice

It would be a case of installing your blog script within a folder on your site as opposed to at root level.
example.com/blog/
The process would be very similar to a full site install, except you would be specifying your paths so that when a user click to go to the blog homepage they are pointed to the correct folder location as opposed to the root of your website.
The instalation instructions that are included with your blog script should describe how to do this correctly. It varies quite a lot from script to script.
Personally though, I would still be tempted to use a sub domain as opposed to having the blog as part of your main site.

Thanks for the very helpful info but I am curious why you'd be tempted to still have blog as a sub-domain?
thanks,

The way you market a blog, and the way you would market a website are similar, but each has its unique concepts. Pings for example.
I think its important to enable to the search engines to accurately work out what your site is. If you are a conventional website and a blog, what are you? My having the blog on a sub domain it is still effectively regarded as its own domain.
