Fastest way to upload large files?

Hi,

I know this is a bit of a stupid question as it depends on your upload speed and the size of the file, but what is the fastest way of uploading video to an FTP site or some other service online other than Yousendit?

I'm working with someone at the moment on a film and the files he has are between 1-2 gigs and there are about 6 of them, so wondering what the easiest way to upload them would be? Is there a service that can speed up the process or some way to speed up FTP i.e. via a shell command?

UPS(or mail service of your choice) - Overnight -> to your host

perhaps rcp/scp is faster if you can get that type of access.
