Am I being scraped?

And if so, how do I stop it?

I experienced a huge jump (double in fact) in page views yesterday, but no increase in total unique visitors.

Adsense ads were displayed to these extra visitor(s), but overall no increase in earnings - which obviously sent my CTR and eCPM crashing.

Any ideas what it was (a scraper I’m guessing) and how to stop it happening again?

Typically Adsense ads won't load for a scraper. Do you by chance use Google Ad Manager to serve ads on your site? I know from experience that if you run Adsense through any of you channels In Ad Manager AND some Adsense ads without Admanager, they will show up in Adsense reporting as additional pageviews. When in reality they are not.

Nope, don't use Ad Manager.

It does seem a little strange right now, as I know most scrapers don't have Javascript enabled to display the ads, but even so, I have double the page views with no increase in unique traffic.

This just happens sometimes. Google records every view as a double view...it won't affect your earnings.

Correct, it didn't affect my total earning (as far as I know) but did cause a huge drop in eCPM/CTR.

I seems a bit odd that both Analytics "and" Adsense reports show an increase in page/ad impressions but if it's normal then I guess I shouldn't worry.

(Might still scan through the logs tomorrow just to be sure)
