niche domain how much does it matter

i am managing a forum related and the domain name is not relevant to niche
how much this issue meter in getting ranking traffic etc etc

Are you trying to rank for the domain name keyword? It can help to some degree to have the keyword domain. That alone won't do it though.

The keyword in the domain name is more important for niche blogs I think, but it is not vital think for the forum.
