I am new to this forum and web promotion. But i know about seo and PPC. I need to find sources of traffic for our website other than search engines. We have a team working on seo, backlinks, content development, social media blogs etc. I need to find other sources of traffic from where we can get( or buy) good traffic in good volume.
Thanks for your advice.

I've found that some of the most high quality traffic can come from just getting out there as a real person and pounding the virtual pavement online... Subject related forums, email lists... I'm not talking about spamming, but actual participation. People love that and love to feel they are part of a business's decision making process... Or they remember when someone helped them make a decision, or helped them with technical issues. It spreads the word and gets people to recommend you, which is probably the most valuable promotion of all. Yes, it's a lot of work, but it pays off.

Thanks.
Do twitter and Facebook also give some traffic? I have seen many companies having their profiles at Facebook and twitter and they put those links at their site.

Letter headings, business cards, painted on your office facia, included in press ads - remember that there is a world away from your PC and don't forget that people follow links as well as the Googlebot.

Thanks.
You said that people follow links as well as the Googlebot.
I have been reading the forums and i realized that links baught for traffic many help in search engine rankings as well. At many places i find people empahsizing the need to buy link for traffic. So can we get so many and such good links which will deliver quality traffic and also will cost less than PPC.

dpd1 is spot on for generating great targeted traffic for a specific nitch or product. His key is
not talking about spamming, but actual participation

Being involved/linked in numerous forums it is great traffic. I am admin over several forums (our forums) that allows some linking for purposes of creating a good conversation. I will allow some links from our visitors that are contributing to the thread or forum but delete in a sec the one liners with a link or low posters that pop in to add a link.

Contribute to the forum and you can slip in a link here or there but remember I said slip.

Yes, I would never just start posting links to my site on any forum. You will not make friends that way and it will actually have the reverse effect from what you want. But most forums allow links in sigs, and that's how you get around it. Only the most strict forums would have a problem with that. Of course this forum is a special exception for obvious reasons.

PPC is an excellent way of increasing site traffic in a short period of time.
