How big is your empire? how many sites do you have?

One man band? a team? do you just enjoy creating and sharing? I do.

Just curious, how many websites do you have and how many people work on them? Are you so organized you manage to do more work than an usual webmaster would? do you hire people to help you? to compensate any weak point?

I'll go first:

- 7 websites by now, one more to come, 3 of those sites don't get updates
- One man band here (only two times hired someone to help on 20% of two projects)

My main motivation was (is) not earning money, it all started with wanting to share information about widgets and it begin to grow from there. Then the income $$ came with some opportunities there but the passion for creating more projects still is here. I enjoy creating more than anything, sure it sounds weird in many ways but is the true. Sometimes when you are good on something you just write to talk about it. Since year 2008 I came to think about creating one new site per year being realistic with quality, fun, content, updates and me working on it. It just keeps me happy.

How about you?

I manage about 5 websites. I say about because I have more out there, but some are just projects that haven't taken off yet, or just didn't pan out and are on auto-pilot.

It is basically just me. My wife helps when she can. Started to create a medium for folks to share experiences. That was 10 years ago. Now I continue to specialize in UGC sites.

Making money was an after-thought. I didn't make any money with my sites until after about 4 years of being online. Now it is my sole income as I quit my day job years ago.

I have about 8 volunteer mods helping me out across the various sites, and countless other users/members that contribute and help when they can.

Professionally I manage an intranet site, a job which I fell into due to my experience building a site for a community group.

Currently I also manage 3 personal sites and a blog.
