These days, small. By default, modern email/webmail clients block images - at least the ones that I've seen and use do.

Gmail will block images by default unless you give permission.

My Outlook 2007 blocks images. I can't remember whether that was the default though.

Between work, home and webmail I use four different email programmes and all block images by default.
