Hi all,

I'm trying to set up WPmu on my server. I have it mostly working, except I'm having issues with the sitemaps. Does anybody know how it's possible to do a header check and get a 404 error, but then look at the page that I'm doing the header check for and see it fine in my browser?

WPmu is heavy on rewrites, so that could have something to do with it.

Thanks for any insight you have!

Steve

WPmu is Wordpress MU - sorry, should have been a little more clear.

welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], peosteve!

have you tried using a tool to check the HTTP Response such as the Live HTTP Headers plugin for firefox?

I believe browsers will typically display a page irrespective of the response code (unless a redirect is required). In other words, if a page is wrongly delivered with a response code of 404 instead of 200, your browser will still display it correctly (but I doubt such pages would be indexed by search engines).

Of course this answer does not help with respect to discovering why a 404 code response might be wrongly delivered in the first place.

Thanks for the welcome message! :)

No, I haven't tried Live HTTP Headers - I'll install and see what happens.

Kaled, thanks - I know about pages being displayed regardless, but this was actually displaying a page. I'll have to check the headers and see what happens...

Thanks alot guys!
