Hi, I am not sure if this is the right area for this question, but does anyone know of a good site that will allow you to take just one or two courses for PHP, JAVA, XML, etc.? My employer will pay for these courses, but I am having a tough time finding many sites that are legit.

Please help. Thanks!

Try your local community college. They often offer both in-class and online courses for pretty affordable prices. Plus you get a much more thorough class (a full semester) instead of just a few sessions that you will soon forget.

I took 2 semesters of Java programming from my local college (night classes) and ended up passing Sun's certification exam.

Welcome aboard jenbar, just to clarify - JAVA and Javascript are two different technologies, do not confuse them. Java is a compiled language for creating executables (generally) and is similar to flavors of C. Javascript (who remembers, it used to be named LiveScript, I think?) is the browser-side scripting language on which jquery and AJAX are based, and is probably what you meant, by the other descriptions.

No recommendations on courses, sorry, those are far behind me and you won't like my opinion on education for the web. :-) However, if you haven't been, get your feet wet here [w3schools.com].

That, and this site, are the two strongest tools you'll have in your arsenal.
