I was surprised to find today, one of our clients popular website was hijacked by some age old spammer on twitter, youtube and few more sites.

He demanded 0000 US$ (4 figure) if our client requires those names.
Spammer has just overtaken those names and demands money, although our client is least concerned about this.

LoL, anyone else faced this kind of lamers ?
It sounds like a very good business here, but I am sure, majority of sites least or does not cares about same at all.

To clarify I guess you mean that your client is www.example.com and these guys are registering "example" as a name with various other service providers. First check those service providers' ToS, a simple complaint might get them off line.

twitter has got policy which doesnt allow anyone to register popular names. You can complain if you feel your client is exact owner of the account in Twitter.

Haven't seen this one yet... but figured it was coming. We registered our name in Twitter and FB just to be safe... since it is free.

Hello piatkow,
You are right, for sites like twitter.com or youtube.com someone has registered everything like twitter.com/ example or youtube.com / example
Our clients domain is example.com

I will suggest client, to report officially to above sites and report back again, how soon they get back to this kind of notifications.

When you report the names they stole, also report their 4 figure ransom to prove they just did this to hold you up for extortion.
