Figuring out how to solve seo problems

I have been running a website for several years now and have done most of the recommended tasks but I can't seem to break from the 3rd page. The competition seems to be short on content, fewer inbound links, etc and I am constantly scratching my head trying to figure out what to do.

So here is my question.

I have a couple sections using CMS, one for articles (which are 90% unique and indexed) and one for pictures. I have been considering changing the articles from CMS to HTML pages and maybe deleting the pictures section. I really have no rhyme or reason for doing this but I can't figure out what is holding my site back.

Any ideas, suggestions... HELP :-)

Sounds like you're taking shots in the dark really. How your content is generated won't make a difference to the SEs. You'd probably be better off paying someone reputable to do a site review.

I'd consider that... Do you know of anyone and what it costs?
