I have embedded many youtube clips and after a few weeks ive noticed the popular clips embdedding feature have been disabled. Why do you think that is? Do they get requests from orignal owners? Or do they want to make a profit by accessing the video directly from YouTube?

Any theories? Why bother changing the settings once youve upload it?

I've noticed this a lot too and it can be tedious to go back and try to find out if a video has stopped working.

My best advice is to look for the version of the video that was posted first and make sure it doesn't have copyright music blaring without the usual "music by xyz" credit line.

By linking to the original and first version you can be fairly certain it was posted by it's owner and by avoiding copyright music you will avoid the "taken down for violating... blah" messages.
