My website just began loading VERY slowly when I type in my address as www.mydomain.com. However, it still runs perfectly smoothly when I type it in without the www. Does anyone know how to fix this or what the issue involves?

PS. I get about 25% of my traffic direct, and I have seen a dip in traffic...so I am guessing a lot of my loyal readers are having to wait too long after typing in my url as www.mydomain.com.

Suggestions?

Do these requests pass through multiple 301 or 302 redirects before getting the content with 200 OK status?

Use the Live HTTP Headers extension for Firefox to find out.

What about images and other files? Do those have a similar issue?

No they don't have any similar issues. And actually it is now running much faster. Not sure what happened...

What is the live http headers extension?

It's an extension that shows you the HTTP 'conversation' between your browser and the website before the HTML page, and other files, are downloaded.
