There are far too many variables and far too many "good quality" companies to give you a responsible answer in this forum. Just a few of the factors that can make a particular host good or bad for you include the following:

* environment (e.g. operating system, databases)
* reliability (e.g. uptime, uptime during peak hours)
* availability of support (e.g. 24-hour phone, e-mail only)
* configuration (e.g. vps vs dedicated vs shared vs colo)
* shell access and restrictions
* cost
* shopping carts, analytics, or other built-in software
* availability/quality of plesk, cpanel, or any other browser-based account management interface
* bandwidth and space limits
* account setup process
* hardware
* geographic location
* billing methods and cycles

moderator's note - any specific hosting company recommendations will be edited.

from the Webmaster General forum Charter [webmasterworld.com]:

Public discussion and/or recommendation of hosting companies is no longer allowed at WebmasterWorld.

that was a great answer choster!

by the way, specific hosting recommendations on WebmasterWorld are only allowed in the Webhosting Issues and Options forum [webmasterworld.com], which is available to WebmasterWorld subscribers [webmasterworld.com].

So I can't lie and say my start-up is the best?

You should also check the reputation of the IP addresses used by the hosting company. You probably don't want to be on a spam blacklist.
