The website is on a dedicated server that was recently cleaned and everything reinstalled. Have no idea what could be making the site so slow, before it was cleaned it ran incredibly fast.
Any ideas on what I could change to make it connect faster?

- Run a DNS report from dnsstuff. Are all your name servers on geographically remote IP's, or at the very least, on unique IP's?
- From Windows, go Start -> Run enter cmd or command, press enter. Type tracert [domainname.com] and press enter. Watch.
It is not unusual for some of the routes to timeout, but do you get a lot of timeouts? Do they hang up at any particular node?
- Call a friend on the other side of the country, or world. Have them emulate your tests. Same result or no problem?
- SSH in, execute ps aux -w
Any processes hogging up memory, CPU?
If your results show no obvious problems, and the results from your remote friend are the same, if you have an admin call them in. If you don't, start hounding support.
Last on this list is is could just be your ISP is overselling bandwidth, but I like to play the optimist and expect the best from providers (Yeah I'm frequently disappointed.)
