Hi,

I currently use a shared host. I have got a script which will automatically back everything up (sites, db's etc) from my host to a remote ftp server. I'm now trying to figure out what the most cost effective way of doing this is?

Ie. what's the cheapest way of backing this up to remote server which accepts ftp.

I want to ensure that if my host screws up i'll be covered.

I'd like to do this weekly and have about 1gb of data, though this is likely to increase significantly in the future.

Thanks!

Look at using a differential or incremental backup. That way you'll only have to do a full backup once. A differential or incremental backup will only backup what has changed since the last/last full backup.
