I lost about 80% of the traffic on one of my sites. No affiliate links, no (intentional) black hat, all original information content .. about 200 pages.

What I see in my AWStats may be a clue, but I don't know how to interpert it.

Links from an Internet Search Engine - Full list
- Google -- 290 -- 4466

It looks like Google is only directing about 6-7% of the traffic to my website?

This happened when someone convinced me that if I made the site "shallower", it would be better. I went from 4 folders to none .. now I read about "siloing" being the better option .. which would seem to be suggesting folders.

First, it could be a glitch, so give it a couple of days. If you have changed all your URLs then there's your answer. Making the site appear to be a single level deep does not mean you place static files in the root directory. Rewriting URLs works just fine. You can have your silos and hierarchies using breadcrumbs but rewrite all URLs to look like /example.html.

It's more than a few days .. happened more than 1 month ago. Can you explain the strange referrer numbers?

As to rwriting, are you suggesting rewrite in the .htaccess?

How do I get back to a reasonable situation? Return to the original directory structure? Forget about being "shallow" .. ;)
