I need an recommendation.

We want to run an IM/Chat for online collaboration and messaging of a work group. Ideally this is something that we'd be able to embed into a work group site.

Any recommedations/

have you checked out any of the open source IM solutions?
there are some web-based clients available using Jabber [jabber.org] technology.

Weve looked at Jabber, but didn't see a web based client for it. will look again.

Just use Facebook... and then integrate with their API. Create a private group... and you are set.

phranque, thanks but those look like they integrate into the browser. We're looking for something that we can integrate with the application itself

I use DotNetNuke - they have modules you can add and I have seen a website that has an IM module on there - I haven't tried it but they were using as a help platform I guess, sort of like online support when people use the site and want information.

It is actually like an embedded version of Instant Messenger - so I would think the owners of the site have their IM details in there.

Perhaps if you went to a few of these IM sites, and work your way down from there - you might find some smart web solutions.

Just a thought
