Sorry if this is miscategorized. I've seen several posts on 301, but couldn't find one re: Blogger. Can you provide some insight on this?
We're moving our company blog from Blogger to Typepad. We've got 3 years worth of posts and links that I really, really don't want to lose.
I've never done a move before, but know that 301 redirects are the way to go.
So my questions are:
1) Can I 301 redirect from Blogger? How do I do it? Is there some code I can drop in the template?
2) If I can't 301 Blogger. What do I do?
3) What do you think about Typepad for business blogging?
All feedback is welcome.
Thanks!

[edit reason] no urls, please. See TOS [webmasterworld.com] [/edit]
There are some sources that give instructions on how to use meta-refresh or Javasscript to redirect the posts, but that isn't at all like a 301 server-side redirect. It's a crap shoot what the result will be using meta refresh, which is browser side (Firefox, IE, etc.) - it definitely won't give the seamless results you'd like. Search engines don't "follow" Javascript, so using that you'll have a mirror site for those posts if you've duplicated them someplace else.
The best solution at this point IMHO, what I'd do in your place: Take a domain name on normal hosting to do your blog on, so that you won't run into the same situation again, which isn't unlikely. Then, either replace posts onto the domain and leave only redirects on Blogger (arghhh...) or leave those as an archive and start afresh at the domain, with links/references in between, in order to maintain the value of previous traffic and inbound links.
Please forgive me if I'm being slow. You're saying:
1) Use a real regular ol' domain - would going to a hosted Typepad cause this problem again? Sounds like a yes.
2) Import old posts into the new blog
3) Put the meta or java redirects into Blogger - for the whole thing or individual posts?
Or
4) Leave the blog posts up and link to the new blog?
I think this where I'm getting confused. The "links/references in between" bit. Are you saying every page or from an archive that I'd create out of Blogger.
Thanks for the quick reply.
